Welcome to Wool, Warp & Wheel Fiber Arts Studio.

We began our business as a Civil War Sutlery. Originally, we sold period-crafted items to the reenactors. We were often asked where we got the materials to produce our goods, so we expanded our offerings to include materials and some basic tools. Requests then came for instruction, so we began to teach. People would often ask, "Where's your shop?" We answered, "Right here!"

As any fiber enthusiast knows, eventually the hobby overtakes you. With two fiber people in the same house, it didn't take long for the inevitable to occur. We talked about getting a storefront, and each developed our own set of requirements. Our "ideal" store would have stone walls and a fireplace. As you can imagine, finding a commercial property that met these requirements was almost impossible. But, God has his plan.

For a list of long reasons, we had made the decision to sell our home and relocate. For almost a year we had driven past the building we would later buy, as we traveled to our cottage in central Wisconsin. We each had noticed the "For Sale" sign earlier that spring, but never said anything. We had gone to the cottage for the weekend to discuss our decision and began to search for a new place to live. As we entered Richmond, I pointed out the yellow building on Mill Street. We called the agent and God took it from there. The instant we set foot on the property, God told us it would be ours. When we met with the agent and saw the property, to our astonishment, it had stone walls and a working fireplace!

Our home sold in 3 weeks. One month later, we were open for business. We are taking a risk, but we claimed God's promise in Jeremiah 29: 11-12. We are where He wants us to be and He's listening when we bring our
requests and concerns before him.

For us, the shop is a journey. For our customers, it's a destination. It's a place for fiber artists to gather and share their experiences, showcase their projects, and renew their spirits.
