The space welcomes you, the yarns call to you, the people invite you to join the circle. Everything about the shop urges new thoughts, new feelings. Encouraging, building, nurturing sensations move you toward yarn, accessories, skills and ultimately, knitted projects.
While your hands and consciousness focus on the project, allow your mind to absorb the goodness of creating and sustaining yarn-related communities around the world. Sticks and Strings has made a conscious (consciousness-raising) effort to purchase yarns and accessories from developing nations, women's cooperatives and not-for-profit groups. More than a feel-good statement, Sticks and Strings is committed to encouraging fiber related communities here and around the world
Comfortable chairs, good lighting, snacks and the company of others creates an ever-changing aura in the store. While the ambience remains very "yarnish" the conversations, skills and stories that swirl around the table create a daily mosaic. There are no cliques, everyone's welcome and there are no barriers to entry because there are no requirements other than an interest in or curiosity about knitting!
