Materials: Worsted Weight Yarn 4 oz Gold, 2 oz Peach, small amount of black, blue, green and purple
Straw Hat with 4" head opening
Polyester Fiberfill
Craft Glue
Tapestry Needle
Crochet Hook Size K
Finished Size Approximately 10" Tall
Head & Body:
Rnd 1: Starting at head, with gold, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around. (18)
Rnd 4: (Sc in each of next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (24)
Rnd 5: (Sc in each of next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (30)
Rnd 6: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 7: (Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (36)
Rnd 8-9: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 10: (Sc in next 4 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around. (30)
Rnd 11-13: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 14: (Sc next 2 sts tog) around. (15)
Rnd 15: Sc in eahc st around. Stuff. Continue stuffing as you work.
Rnd 16: 2 sc in each st around (30)
Rnd 17: (Sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (36)
Rnd 18: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 19: (Sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st) around. (42)
Rnd 20-28: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 29: (Sc in next 5 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around (36)
Rnd 30: (Sc in next 4 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around (30)
Rnd 31: (Sc in next 3 sts, sc next 2 sts tog) around (24)
Rnd 32: (Sc next 2 sts tog) around, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off (12). Sew opening closed.
With black, using satin stitch embroider eyes 2 1/4" apart over Rnd 7 as shown in photo.
Wing: (Make 2):
Rnds 1-2: Repeat same rnds of head and body.
Rnd 3: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 4: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around. (18)
Rnd 5-7: Sc in each st around.
Rnd 8: (Sc in next st, sc next 2 sts tog) around, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off. (12)
Flatten last rnd and sew over rnds 18-23 on each side of body.
Beak Side: (Make 2):
Rnd 1: With peach, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around. (9)
Rnd 3: Sc in each st around, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off.
Flatten last rnd and sew first beak side to rnd 9 centered below eyes. Sew 2nd beak side directly
under first beak side.
Leg: (Make 2):
Rnd 1: With peach, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook (6 sc)
Rnd 2-7: Sc in each st around. At end of last rnd, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off.
Toe: (Make 6):
Rnd 1: With peach, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (6 sc)
Rnd 2-4: Sc in each st around. At end of last rnd, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off.
Sew 3 toes to bottom of each leg. Sew legs 3 1/2" apart to rnds 27-28 on front of body.
Flower: (Make 2 gold/purple, make 2 gold/blue):
Rnd 1: With gold, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: Join flower colour with sl st in any st, ch 3, (sl st in next st, ch 3) around, join with sl st in first sl
st, fasten off.
Leaf: (make 2):
With green, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, 3 sc in last ch; working on opposite side of ch,
sc in next ch, 2 sc in last ch, join with sl st in first sc, fasten off.
Glue flowers and leaves to hat as desired.
