The Owner

One of the most valuable resources that Yarn and Company has to offer is the knowledge and tutelage of its founder and owner Sandra Tolin. She has been knitting for over 30 years and her passion for knitting is unparalleled. Sandra has seen many trends come and go, and has learned how to help other knitters find the styles, tools, and yarn selections that compliment their Ewe-nique personalities. She also attends most of the prominent national tradeshows and seminars to keep current with the newest materials and processes.

Elkins, West Virginia

Elkins was founded in 1890 by Stephen B. Elkins (1841-1911), and remains one of the most beautiful cities in West Virginia. It is a very accessible getaway country town, nestled in the serene Appalachian Mountains of North Central WV. Bustling with artists and crafts folk, it is home to the nearly famous Forest Festival and Augusta Festival. Most notable of Elkins' features are its vibrant fall colors, breathtaking mountains & streams, Yarn and Company, and its icon Ewegene.

Ewegene

Ewegene is a sheep born on a farm in southern WV, who has loved knitting for as long as he can remember. When he was a lamb, the farmer (whose name escapes him) came to the fields to sheer all of the sheep. To his surprise Ewegene had already taken the liberty of doing that for him. In fact, he had even already spun all of the wool into yarn and was selling it in his yarn shop that he had started in the corner of the field. That night Ewegene overheard something about "mutton chops", and decided to not find out if he was just being paranoid. So he headed for the hills. He wandered for some time trying to fit in and knitting when he got the chance. Until the fateful day that he met Sandra. She was starting her own yarn shop and was looking for a spokesperson. So she settled for a spokes-sheep and neither of them has looked back.
