The fabulous fibers, the original designs and patterns, the support, help, and attention you've come to know and love at Knittique...

Well, it all started in September, 2002, when I started selling yarns and original knitwear from a tiny cart in a corner of the 2nd Street Public Market, under the name L.T.D. Knits.

It didn't take long for me to realize that, not only are there many knitters and crocheters craving unusual and beautiful yarns, there are also so many of you who have wanted to learn how to knit and crochet, but didn't know where to find the friendly help you needed.

Since that small start, the years have marked many changes. In 2003, I incorporated under our new name, Knittique, Inc., followed by forming a partnership with the incredible Janice Campbell.

Together, Janice and I expanded into a full-size space at the market, greatly increasing the quantity and variety of yarns; we specialize in novelties and high-quality wool, alpaca, angora, cashmere, cotton, and blends. Knitting Therapy, our weekly get-together at Therapy Café, gave us all a chance to relax and work on our projects in a fun and supportive atmosphere. We also added lots more books, magazines, and all kinds of knitting and crocheting notions and supplies, in addition to more fully developing our own line of original patterns.

Since Janice moved on to other endeavors in late 2003, Knittique has gradually moved in a new direction. In 2006, I decided to move to Seattle, Washington, which necessitated closing the shop at the Market. Although that was a very difficult decision, this change has also given me the opportunity to put all my time and energy into developing the Knittique-brand line of products, as well as new designs and patterns-- and make them available to all via our website.

In late 2007, with the launch of our new website, we focused primarily on all the products that make us unique: Knittique's Scraplet Skeins, our own fashion-forward designs, patterns, and kits (including the original Scraplets), help in finding just the right projects for you, and our own online community with our new bulletin board, YarnTalk. And in late 2008, after moving to Portland, Oregon, we are continuing to expand our line of Scraplet Skeins, as well as producing more designs and patterns for Scraplet Skeins.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our students and customers, who share in our admittedly obsessive love for the yarns, the camaraderie, and the simple joy of transforming a ball of yarn into a wearable work of self-expressive art!

Welcome, everyone, to the all-new Knittique! — Lindy
