It was a dreary March day (one when knitting is at the top of the list) when the spark of starting a yarn shop was first mentioned. It had been a blow to all of us fiber lovers when the local source, Kindred Threads, had recently told us of their intentions to close its doors. As the spark grew we all wondered who was the right person to lead the rest. Kathryn, who was on spring break at the time from the University of Madison, became enthralled by the notion of keeping the local fiber spirit going and, although the most unlikely candidate, became the only candidate to take on the position. After much thinking and contemplating, Ewetopiaâ€™s doors opened on July 7th, 2007. With a new location closer to downtown then the previous shop, Ewetopia has had a wonderful start and will continue to grow and be a place for fiber artists and those just beginning to feel the creative urge to come and gather.
