About Big Sky

Lisa Daniels started Big Sky Studio in 1996 after 14 years in the retail yarn business. The studio was originally created as a private design studio for Lisa and her students. Due to the increasing interest in yarns of exceptional quality and beauty, Lisa opened her studio to the public in 1998. In addition to her designing activities, Lisa offers quality yarns, tools, books and knitting classes. In May of 2004, she moved her studio to its current location and renamed her retail business Big Sky Luxury Yarns.

In 2000, Lisa was chosen to be Creative Director of Muench Yarns, Inc. As Creative Director, Lisa has applied her unique vision of color design to Muench's wide selection of yarns. Lisa's original designs, which often incorporate luxury hand painted yarns with commercially produced yarns, have appeared in several national knitting magazines (e.g., Interweave Knits and Knit 'N Style). Kits for these designs can be purchased at the studio. You'll soon be able to check out the kits online. Lisa shows knitters how to combine yarns for their own projects in the same way she does in her own designs, helping them produce one-of-a-kind sweaters, afghans, shawls, and accessories. Lisa and her knitting have been featured on local and public television shows.

Big Sky Luxury Yarns encourages and challenges the artist in every knitter and transforms the ancient craft of knitting into an inspirational journey of creative color knitting. The Studio invites you to take your knitting beyond the ordinary. In the coming months, a growing schedule of classes will be available to continue your pursuit of this craft. The alive and innovative environment of Big Sky is available to all knitters who see knitting as a creative excursion into color, texture and self-expression.
